Why be honest now???

"The IPCC consensus on climate change was phoney, says IPCC insider

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.

“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”

Hulme, Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia – the university of Climategate fame — is the founding Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and one of the UK’s most prominent climate scientists. Among his many roles in the climate change establishment, Hulme was the IPCC’s co-ordinating Lead Author for its chapter on ‘Climate scenario development’ for its Third Assessment Report and a contributing author of several other chapters."

The actual story of that scam is pretty funny and pretty blatant fraud. They cherry-picked 2500 scientists whom they thought might agree with them. They invited them to IPCC. If I remember right, it was nine guys who sat in a room and reached a "consensus" and wrote the report they would later claim they had consensus on. People attended the conference and had various meetings, etc. They never knew about what the nine guys wrote or had a chance to see it. At the end of the conference an extremely misleading statement was spread far and wide. It went something like this,"We gathered 2500 scientists from all over the world, and well, we are putting out this report that none of them disagreed with. that story went round and round the world. The story when hundreds and hundreds of those scientists came out afterward and said they had never seen that report and didn't agree with it did not. Nor did it make headlines when the 700 American scientists who went to the conference made up and signed a statement to the US Senate saying that they did not agree with the IPCC statement and what they were doing.

P.S. The biggest official statement signed by the world's leading scientists against the IPCC's ideas about climate change, which these scientists call "absurd," has 34,000 signatures. The scientists who are willing to sign on to the IPCC's report in full is 19. Not 19,000, just 19.
